Aims and Future Plans

The clubs aims and plans


           
As the club begins to grow and develop, there will be many new aims to achieve. Stars for the Future’s current plans are:

  • Develop more weightlifting sessions in more schools in the Ealing, Twickenham, Hounslow, Hillingdon  and  Harrow borough.
  • Select the talented lifters from each school and train them in five different locations:

 

  1. Perivale Park Athletics track  for the borough of Ealing
  2. Barnhill Community School for the Borough of Hillingdon
  3. Longford Community for the Borough of Hounslow
  4. Richmond collage for the Borough of Richmond.
  5. St. Marys University for the Borough of Twickenham
  6. Queens Marys university- East London

 

  • The best lifters from these 6 locations will be selected and trained as part of the elite team in St. Mary’s, these would include the u16 and u19.
  • Lifters will get a club t-shirt once they have become members and have attended 10 sessions.
  • Lifters who train the most will gain more points and will have a higher chance to be chosen for higher level competitions, such as the Faulda International Championships in Austria in 2012.
  • After two years of training and developing the elite team our aim will be to send the best lifters who are at univeristy to compete in the world university championships 2013 which will hopefully be in London at our very own St. Mary’s university.
  •  And for the youth members they will be trained and prepared for the youth commonwealth games in 2015 which will be held in Samoa. for more information about this compeitition visit :http://www.thecgf.com/cyg/
  • The best elite team members will be considered for the Sports Aid Grant in 2012
  • The Austria team selection will be one girl and one boy for each age group, so 2 under 12′s, 2 under 14′s, 2 under 16′s, 2 under 18′s ,2 under 20’s and 2 under 23′s.
